Standards Based

Standards based education demands concise and measurable standards for all students. A standard based based system measures how each student is doing against a concrete standard.

With a standards based system, students, teachers, and parents have a definitive understanding of what the student needs to know, so that goals can be established for each individual student and achievement of those goals can be measured.

The Brain Hurricane math curriculum is aligned with the National Core Standards and is comprised of fourteen essential learning strands. The Brain Hurricane standards are also mapped to state standards.

On a daily basis Brain Hurricane measures how students are achieving the goals that have been set for them. The student’s achievement is measured through computer generated assessments that offer immediate feedback to the student and the teacher. The teacher interface allows the teacher to track the students progress immediately. At the end of the week, if the student has not achieved the goals that have been measured against a concrete standard, the student is sent to the computer generated lesson where additional teaching and practice of the concept is given.
